No Title- I'm tired of thinking up titles

This song is called Stand. It's by the same group that did the song Emily posted on her blog. I thought this one could be a good one to post, too.

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you've lost your fight
But you'll be alright, you'll be alright

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place
Oh

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

Actually, what I really think of this song is that the lyrics are incredibly shallow and very concrete. A candle in a hurricane? A novel with the end ripped out? It's so clique, or something. I don't know how to describe it. But it bothers me. It just doesn't take the concept very deep.

But... the music and the guy's voice win me over. They capture an emotion somehow that goes much deeper than the words. And that one line where it says "Every time you get up and get back into place, one more small piece of you starts to fall into place."

That's why it's currently my MySpace song. :-)

This says what I strive for. I want to take hold what God has given me before my pride makes me wait till it's gone. I just don't think any of us realize just how much we have, just how much we've been blessed. It kills me when I see myself complaining about things that some would think a blessing to have. I dye inside when I find myself down playing some thing that some one els doesn't have and wish for, even superficial things, I am so selfish it makes me sick. I can't imagine what I would be without God.

I don't see why the words have to be "deep". Why can't they just be shallow? Touching the surface and letting you make up the rest. Everything doesn't have to be deep.

I'm a bit critical today, just to let you know...

Bother. I have some thoughts I can't put into words. I'll work on it.

I think you're right, MJ.

Insidentally, I'm working on a blog post about this very thing right now. Well, kind of.

Sorry for not checking your blog in so long!
