Poems

Speaking of poems, I want to share a poem I just read in my Literature book. Tell me what you think:

The Book Our Mothers Read
John Greenleaf Whittier

We search the world for truth; we cull
The good, the pure, the beautiful,
From graven stone and written scroll,
And all old flower-fields of the soul;
And, weary seekers of the best,
We come back laden from the quest,
To find that all the sages said
Is in the Book our mothers read.

It's an older poem, I believe, like the other one. What do you think?

Very nice.
It is so true that we search the world for truth. That poem is true for us Christian kids because the book mom read is the bible. That is the only place Truth is found.

Very nice indeed. :)

It's Sunday, time to comment. How was your day? Mine has been interesting, going to church, singing, talking to my parents about important stuff, thinking about other interesting stuff. Not a whole lot but, it's better than nothing. How about you, how have you been?

Lucy are you kidding?!! *sigh* never mind.

That was a very lovely poem. I'm usually not a fan of the old style cause to me it doesn't flow right; but I really like this one. I like that you're posting poems! Do it lots! I like.... :)

Hope you don't mind all of the comments MJ.

If I could see you I would say "You like beautiful today Michaela."

Go here:

Especially look at "To all those Children Who Flew in on Wilson, the Cat" and "In One Fell Swoop." the second one has Sam's word in it! I like them. They're basically all silly poems, which are of course the best kind, right?

is this weird or not, that this kind of reminds me of the song I want tomorrow?

Dorothy said...

oh, and I'll go north as soon as sam gets back so i can figure out which way it is. MJ said she had wings, 'cause she was gonna fly out of the second-story window, so that should be our best bet i think.

wow. scroll down the page and just look at all the pretty pink fliwers!

umm...yes, I'm typing with one hand. pink flowers.

Life's been good, life's been bad
It's been joy, it's been sad
Why can't we stay good?
Why can't we not do bad?
Love the thrills
Learn from falls
Get back up
Do the good

It's a lovely day today
Sun shining, clear sky
Warm air, slight breeze
Brown dog. . . oop
Blue bird, red flower
Is it summer?
Feels like spring
